For the past few days, I’ve been getting the following popup when I open Gmail account in my Firefox 2.0.
After I click this irritating error box 13 times (it’s always that exact number) then the box disappears and I can view all my emails correctly. I get this similar error on IE 7 as well but there it disappears in 2 times only. I tried different browsers, cleared cookies, different machines, different operating systems but in vain. Other friends were able to access the account just fine so I was wondering. Finally, I googled the error code and found the solution at Gmail Help Center. Basically, the solution is to access the account through secured interface available at https://mail.google.com. Now, I could not find any explanation of the problem but the proposed solution indeed got rid of the popup.

Hi
If you’re encountering the "oops message
could not be sent due to server error #102.. retrying", dont let it freak you out.
simply try signing in to Gmail through http://www.mail.google.com
If you continue to experience difficulties, please check your mail
from the older version of Gmail by clicking Older Version at the top
of any Gmail page, or go to http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1
That should help out.

Gmail has not been working properly for me for almost one month. I have tried all of the different URL to access, but none improve the situation. I have tried clearing all private data, but that only allows me to log off properly, before signing in to a different Gmail account. I cannot attach a file to a message, I cannot link to Gmail help, I cannot access any help that includes gmail in the URL.
However, Gmail works when used with POP to Outlook Express. I think this means there is a conflict with the browser. But both Firefox and IE have the same problems with Gmail. The problems continue with my second computer as well.
My OS is Win2k. My access is through satellite server Starband.
Thank you for helping,
David
