I agree that marathon running may be too strenuous on the heart. But walking or running at a slow pace has proven to reduce the risk of heart attack by as much as 45%. Regular cardio exercise along with a healthy diet prevents the buildup of bad cholesterol in the arteries and reduces the formation of blood clots. (I am 56 years old and had 5 bypasses last year. I walk at least an hour each day with my dogs or on the treadmill.)

I totally agree upon the benefits of regular running. That’s why I’m into running and have completed 2 1/2 & 2 full marathons. Hopefully many more to come
