Deep Dive on Project Tango

Filed under: webservices — arungupta @ 9:57 am

Watch a 25-minute video as Ed Ort deep dives on Project Tango (part of Metro) with me.

How to play the interview ? – Clicking on the image above takes you to the main page where different interviews are located. On that page, click on the Play button (sideways triangle) in the bottom left corner instead of "LOW BAND" or "HIGH BAND" buttons. More than one person asked me this question so it does seem slightly non-intuitive to me. Even I was confused but then figured out after playing around.

You can read more about Project Tango in this detailed article.

  1. Hi Arun,
The interview was very informative, i would like to thank you for that. Now to the problem: I downloaded the plugin for WSIT and wrote a simple webService that adds 2 integers. It worked fine from java client but failed when i invoked the same webservice from a VB.NET client.
    Details:

    Source: "WSIT Tutorial.PDF"
    Netbeans: 5.5.1
    Server: Glassfish V2 B58
VB IDE: Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition

    Error: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHeaderException was unhandled

    Please help.

  2. Avinash, Glad that you liked the interview. In this blog entry:

I showed how to develop a simple Web service using WSIT and invoke it from .NET 3.0 (using C#) and vice versa. Can you try following the steps mentioned there and see if you still seeing the problems ? I’ve not tried a VB.NET client but it should still work. In any case, can you send me the complete SOAP message (including HTTP headers) exchanged between client and endpoint ?

  3. [Trackback] If you attended JavaOne 2007 or any other conference afterwards where Metro (JAX-WS + WSIT/Tango) team presented, then you’ve probably seen this demo. The demo shows an Excel 2007 spreadsheet invoking a Secure and Reliable endpoint deployed on GlassFi…
